Local Club Programs

Starting a study club is an essential strategy for professional growth. Many clinicians go into practice with a great foundation upon which to build. The question quickly becomes, “how to add to your existing knowledge base and hone your surgical skills?” As a specialist, you are uniquely positioned to help clinicians in your community elevate their diagnosis and treatment planning skills by starting a study club. This accomplishes many things:

  • It provides a collaborative learning environment for yourself and other clinicians in your community.
  • As the dentists in your community become more skilled at diagnosis and treatment planning they will strive for higher quality of care for their patients and you will become more involved as part of the treatment team.
  • Participation in this type of group makes learning more enjoyable.
  • Your club can become a “university without walls” that can provide all of the resources that were available originally in dental school.
  • A comprehensive curriculum can be developed (like a university) for individuals who don’t have the luxury of being back in school full-time.
  • While you will bring in guest lecturers to present “state-of-the-art therapies,” the true emphasis will be on the opportunity for members to continually learn from each other in a non-threatening forum.

Dr. Cohen is one of the few practitioners in the country to have constructed a successful bridge between didactic and clinical programming. Building on the traditional study club model, he has added original and more powerful programming to maximize member interest. Clinical treatment planning sessions, problem-solving workshops, hands-on demonstrations and panel discussions will engage and challenge the doctors in your club.

For the past 20 years, we have been helping clinicians create study clubs that are rewarding for everyone involved. We provide all the resources and support you need to achieve all this and more for the clinicians in your community. We will help you develop an effective program for your first year, including lectures, lab programs and several types of clinical sessions. Because we work directly with you, the program you create will reflect your goals and objectives while you benefit from the history of Seattle Study Club affiliates around the world.
