Remembering Oren Harari

I received sad news today; Oren Harari passed away over the weekend. Dr. Harari was Professor at the Graduate School of Business at the University of San Francisco, an author, speaker and a good friend of Seattle Study Club.

He wrote the well-known book Break From the Pack, along with several others that focus on strategic decision-making and leadership behaviors that propel organizations to success. Those of you who attended either the 2006 or 2007 Symposium know what a remarkable presenter he was. He is the only keynote speaker to return to the main stage at Symposium two years in a row.

Dr. Harari first presented for us at the 2006 Symposium in Aviara. This meeting focused on dentists as CEOs and really pushed the clinicians to think beyond the "mom and pop" mentality and understand that their success relied heavily on their abilities as leaders. In 2007, he returned to show us how to make our individual practices stand out in the "Copycat Economy."

Dr. Harari was genuine, warm, caring and very funny, and he will be missed by many. My thoughts, personally, and the reflections of the Seattle Study Club office go out to his family during this difficult time.
