In this lively session, John Pierre will show us how to use resistance bands to get a great workout, as seen on the Ellen DeGeneres show. He will also teach how to tailor the workout to individual fitness levels, while still gaining the benefits of an aerobic activity that burns calories and improves the function, balance, and strength of our bodies.
In certain areas of the world people live happier, healthier and significantly longer lives than many of us have come to think of as normal. These so-called Blue Zones have been the subject of much inquiry over the last twenty years. In this presentation, Jason will examine the traditional activities, beliefs, and diets of Blue Zone residents and provide insight into how we might create our own Blue Zones at home and in our local communities.
SARAY STANCIC, MD
As a young resident, Dr Saray Stancic was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Her doctors told her she might very well end up in a wheelchair, and prescribed a daily injectable drug that had some benefit but also had serious side effects. Soon the volume of drugs she was taking to counteract the side effects far outweighed the MS drug itself. In this riveting presentation, Dr Stancic will tell us how she reversed MS on her own by changing her diet and lifestyle, all of which was supported by medical literature going back to the 1950s, though her doctors had not been trained to impart this vital information to patients. As a result of this experience, she has made it part of her life’s mission to catalyze change in medical education, assuring future generations of physicians receive appropriate education on the importance of nutrition and lifestyle in maintaining health, as well as the role it can play in managing and reversing disease. Now known as the “doctor’s doctor” due to the number of physicians who seek her out for their personal care, Dr Stancic practices lifestyle medicine at her New Jersey clinic Stancic Health and Wellness, LLC
