The Use of Removable Aligners for Orthodontic Prerestorative Tooth Movement

Option 1: Special Three-Part Program

Part 1: Video conference
One month prior to regular member meeting, Drew will confer with your orthodontic advisor to plan the pre-program training meeting according to the orthodontist’s experience with aligner treatment. This conference ensures that the pre-program training and member program will match the experience of the advisor. The orthodontic advisor will then have an opportunity to prepare prior to the member meeting.

Part 2: Preprogram training
On the afternoon or evening prior to the study club meeting, Drew will meet with the orthodontic advisor (as well as the oral surgeon, periodontist, and other team members as appropriate) to review treatment planning, sequencing, biomechanics, attachment design, treatment protocol, fees, and other information to prepare for the success of the team. The discussion will be informal and based on any expressed areas of concern. If your study club normally meets on Friday during the day, this session can be held on Thursday evening. Estimated length of time is 3 hours.

Part 3: Member meeting
On the morning following the preprogram training, all members will come together for your normal meeting. Drew will give a comprehensive lecture on prerestorative orthodontics and Invisalign’s role in the process. The orthodontics advisor will interact with Drew and the other advisors to practice treatment planning patients in preparation for the interdisciplinary patients that they will be treating in their practices. Example patients will be diagnosed and treatment planned by the entire group. This part of the program can be arranged for a half day or full day depending upon what works best for your club by varying the start and stop times. Note: Drew will assist in treatment planning two additional cases during the 60 days following the program.

Option 2: Member Meeting Only

Drew will present a comprehensive lecture on prerestorative orthodontics and Invisalign’s role in the process. The objective will be to provide an overview of the scope of removable aligner treatment as it pertains to interdisciplinary treatment. This presentation will include numerous cases involving patients whose objections were minimized by the use of innovative strategies without sacrificing the quality of treatment. Removable aligner applications and other combination treatments will be presented and discussed.

The objectives of this course are as follows:

  • To illustrate the capabilities and advantages Invisalign has over traditional orthodontic treatment in treating a variety of interdisciplinary cases
  • To provide an overview of the scope of removable aligner treatment as it pertains to interdisciplinary treatment
  • To assist in securing improved case acceptance for interdisciplinary treatment

Who would benefit from this program?
This program is designed for doctors who would like to become more familiar with the capabilities of aligner treatment in the interdisciplinary setting and more proficient in the use of removable aligners for patients who are being prepared for restorative treatment.
